The history of Milchwerke Mittelelbe

1896

Foundation of the sugar factory in the district of Stendal.

1949

Founded in 1949, VEB Dauermilchwerke Stendal & Genthin was the largest producer of dried milk and infant nutrition in the GDR.

1991

Milchwerke Mittelelbe has been part of the KRÜGER GROUP since 1991. With the acquisition of the largest East German industrial company for dried milk and infant formula, entrepreneur Willibert Krüger secured an important strategic function in the raw materials market and in the business with valuable primary products.

1991 - 2000

Continuous expansion of capacities for the production of Infant Nutrition and modernization of individual spray towers.

2005

With the commissioning of the cold aseptic UHT filling line, milk- and water-based drinks can be filled into different bottle sizes.

2009

Expansion of spray drying capacities and conversion of the entire milk reception and processing plant.

2010

Commissioning of a combined heat and power plant, thereby increasing the efficiency of the energy supply and reducing CO2 emissions at the same time.

2012 - 2015

Expansion of production capacity for the manufacture of Infant Nutrition 2015 and installation of a new line for UHT filling of liquid products.

2015

Further continuous expansion of spraying capacities for Infant Nutrition. New filling lines for Ready to Drink, with corresponding expansion in 2017.

2018

Construction of a new, automated 16,000 sqm logistics center at the Stendal site.

2019

Milchwerke Mittelelbe in Stendal celebrates its 70th anniversary of milk processing.
