Technologies for the production of the Elb-Milch product range

Almost everything at Milchwerke Mittelelbe revolves around the raw material milk, but many milk-free products are also produced.  The central point is always the milk reception: this is where processing starts for the production of high-quality, innovative and healthy products using 14 spray towers and 3 cold aseptic filling lines. A steam jet agglomeration system is used for the production of special preliminary products for the pharmaceutical industry. Powders can be gently mixed in 4 mixing plants and supplemented with various ingredients such as minerals/vitamins and Omega 3 fatty acids.


At the end of the processing chain there are 10 packaging lines where our products are packaged for the food retail industry. 

Milk processing

Up to 1.2 million litres of fresh raw milk that come straight from our milk producers are processed every day on state-of-the-art milk processing lines. All these processes meet the highest quality standards.


In addition, the cream from this milk is processed to make concentrated butter.

Spray drying

For the various functional powder products, milk, liquid and powdered ingredients are processed into concentrates using intensive mixing and homogenisation processes. The Elb-Milch spray towers all have the following technologies at their disposal:

  • In-line dosing for liquid and dry ingredients

We have 14 spray dryers available for the spray drying process. They can be used variably in terms of capacity and specific technical properties and are specialised for different products. This enables us to use technologies tailored to the requirements of the end product. These are:

  • Conventional dryer
  • Steam jet agglomeration

Powder mixing plant

In addition to the production of fully sprayed powders with chemical-physical properties that can be adapted to the needs and requirements of our customers, there are various powder mixing plants for the gentle mixing of recipes, also complex recipes.

Cold aseptic filling lines

The ready-to-drink product sector is constantly adapted to the increasing demands. Three cold aseptic filling systems are now available for the production of liquid products. Indirect ultra-heat treatment is used to produce milk-, water- and plant-based drinks with kinaesthetic properties we can individually influence. Highly flexible sterile tank storage enables a smooth, uninterrupted manufacturing process.

Packaging

We already use innovative and environmentally friendly packaging in many areas. At our ten filling lines your product can be packaged in almost every conceivable type of packaging.
